My Grammy passed away nine years ago from acute lymphocytic leukemia, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about her… my mommy’s mommy. Among many incredible things, she was a great baker! I make these chocolate chip cookies every few weeks, and everyone who tries them asks for the recipe. They are that good. But don’t cheap out on the Ghirardelli chocolate bars. Grammy made them small and crunchy, while I make them bigger and softer. Both are great—it depends on what mood you are in. Thank me later!

Grammy’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar (if you double recipe like I usually do, use dark brown sugar for the other 1/4 cup)
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 bars Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate
1 bar Ghirardelli milk chocolate
1 bar Ghirardelli white chocolate
*can do chips if you prefer
Directions
Preheat oven to 350
Cream together butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, egg
Add flour, baking powder and salt
Cut up chocolate bars into pieces and add to dough
Chill dough for an hour (can do longer, days if you want to prep)
Form balls with the dough
Bake 10-15 minutes depending on size
Cool for a few minutes
