Hope everyone had a great weekend! New York is warming up this week (a bit), and the vibes are high. I know no one loves clicking through 100 Instagram stories, and I much prefer writing here. Let’s dive into the rest of last week’s submissions -
White cotton poplin shirt to tuck into pants: this is one of my favorites and is $39 right now. Higher end options include this and this one from Nili Lotan. The Nili tops wear really well… this will be my third year with them.
Comfy travel sets: depends on the time of the year and where you are headed, but for right now I love cashmere pants or a great pair of leggings. These from Lisa Yang are my new favorites… these are great too… I usually pair with a chunky turtleneck, but if I’m traveling, I think this seems like the better option layered with a tee. This set is under $200 and is a great travel option too. Oh and these are my new favorite sweatpants!
Jeans for petite: the most popular amongst my clients are these from Khaite and these from Nili Lotan for an elevated jean, 90's Pinch Waist, these from Frame and 501 ‘90s for an everyday. For a bigger fit, these Citizens of Humanity and these from Alex Mill are favorites. Depending on your height, a small hem might be needed for the perfect fit.
Jeans for tall girls: the Joan and the Mitchell, the Danielle, these from Stella McCartney (my newest acquisition) and these from Toteme. I also love 501 ‘90s (32” inseam)… these and these are great for an ankle length. The Ryman Jean from Proenza is on my list to try next.
Favorite skincare products of all time: I have different favorites for different times of the year but if I had to do a top 8 that I use all year… P50W (for sensitive skin… my mom uses P50V for more mature skin), Nescens Bio- Rehydrating Serum (going to pick up a new bottle tomorrow) and the Bio-Identical Restoring Mask. Snail mucin masks (duh), Masque Vivant, Furtuna Skin’s Biphase Moisturizing Oil, my red light mask (RACHELC) and oxygen infuser.
Black fitted trouser rec: I am looking for a pair myself! I am going to try these and these.
Current fixation meal: more like a fixation side… last week, I had the most amazing sweet potato at Crane Club—whipped honey, tamari butter, Aleppo, scallion, and mascarpone. It was so good and I’m determined to replicate it. I recently made this recipe that wasn’t quite the same but still felt like an elevated sweet potato.
Bridal shower in Chicago in April: I love a tailored moment and put a handful of my favorites in this post from a few weeks ago. Bride or non-bride I also love this look.
Salomon’s that are in stock: these!
Down coats for the winter: My cinched puffer is on sale (I wear a size 34). This is another great option and my mom just got this one (RACHELC15). This is my favorite long down coat (better photos here but low on sizes, size M here on Poshmark).
Elevated basics on a budget: a more in depth post to come but for now a handful of staples… this and this pair of denim, this white tee, crewneck sweaters (these too), an oversized black turtleneck, a fitted black turtleneck, loafers, black boot for day and night, black trouser, wool coat. More soon!
Non-maternity maternity clothes: this crop pant, this legging, an oversized black turtleneck like this or this one. For jeans… these from Agolde and 501 90’s (if you are taller make sure you get the 32" inseam). I would be living in overalls and cashmere pants (as I do now), chunky knits and a really great pair of boots. A denim button down and loafers will be great for when it gets a bit warmer out.
What are you most excited to wear this spring? My black satin trench.
Any bags you are eyeing? I am looking to invest in a handheld tote bag and I can’t make a decision, or maybe I am waiting for something new to come out. I’ve had my eye on this bag in black ever since my mom got it in brown last summer, and I always consider the Margaux, but it feels like the obvious choice. I’m heading to Europe in the spring and again in the summer and might wait to see what I find there (fingers crossed for an Hermès leather appointment in Paris!). I’m itching for something new and timeless—something I’ll still love 10 years from now.
Starting a new job in two weeks (casual environment)… what to wear on the first day? I always suggest keeping it simple… black trousers, black crewneck, a great belt and black boots.
What size banana bag from The Row? I have the small and while it has been great I am now craving the larger size. I like to carry a lot so that makes sense… you can’t go wrong, it really depends on your lifestyle.
Up close details of your charm necklace?
How to style Gucci slide loafers in a more modern way? Throw a sock under! These are my favorite.
How are you liking The Row Zip Boot? I absolutely love them and I can’t believe I waited so long to hit buy. Worth the hype and so comfortable… they are also easy to wipe down which has been huge with the winter slush. There are sizes left here and here.
Perfect summer timeless dress: this is perfect. Something a bit more elevated here. Wear it during the day with sandals, then add a clutch to seamlessly transition into the evening.
How to stop tweaking your wardrobe? I feel like it’s endless. Tweaking your wardrobe feels endless until your foundation is strong! Focus on pieces you love, that feel like you, and fit your lifestyle. When you're happy with your wardrobe, you'll stop searching and enjoy getting dressed. New purchases will just be thoughtful additions!
How do you decide which pieces to let go of? If I haven’t worn something in over a year, I usually move on—unless it’s a special piece I plan to keep long-term. I like to keep my wardrobe edited and intentional, though I do hope to expand it in the coming years with more unique, thoughtfully chosen pieces.
More later this week! A Q&A style post with my mom is on the way… have any questions? Drop them below.
