Happy September! I am back on eastern time and in my routine and so very excited for the season ahead. I love the energy September brings... The next few weeks will be a grind and then I am headed on my honeymoon to Tanzania and Seychelles at the start of October (Gone on Safari).
I unpacked and reorganized my apartment like a crazy person the second I got home last week. I forgot about a number of refills and new products I had that I am so excited to open in the next few weeks (reviews to come on new products):
Resurfacing Body Compound (very excited about this. I use such beautiful products on my face and need to do the same on my body!!)
Salt Scrub Shampoo (my favorite restock)
The mornings this week were very chilly and I was reminded that I owe you a deeper dive on outerwear for the fall. That will come to your inbox on Tuesday. It will be a great one! Changing seasons can be overwhelming, especially when you are on fashion Substack and Instagram where product is constantly in your face. A few reminders:
Shop for the life you have. Practicality is key.
You don’t have to dip into every trend.
You shouldn’t have to buy a new wardrobe every season. Work on your foundation and having all of your pieces work together. The goal is to get to the point where you only buy a few special pieces a season.
Building a wardrobe takes time and is a process! While it is a luxury to have the ability to buy everything at once, it is also a luxury to build over time and have stories to tell along the way.
I picked up two Ottolenghi cook books in London and have been loving planning dinner from a book rather than online. It’s so relaxing and enjoyable… physical books, post-it's and a pen in the afternoon before I head to the grocery store with a physical grocery list. I have already learned so much from making a few recipes… like honey, rose water and toasted hazelnuts makes a beautiful sauce to pour over chicken (recipe here) and when you put tomatoes, garlic, shallots, olive oil, cinnamon sticks (!!!) and a few other spices in the oven then cook your rice in the same dish you can make the most flavorful rice (recipe here)! I am very excited to get through more of my bookmarked pages and will continue to share favorites.
I am also making an effort to buy produce that is in season. Things taste so much better. Like the green grapes right now… next level. We are going through 4 bags a week. Strawberries… not so much.
Laughing at this mishmash of a post but that’s life and why I love writing here. More Tuesday!
